About me
Since 1988
Hello, I’m Peony, and I’m thrilled to welcome you to my creative design space. With over 15 years of experience in the design industry, I am a passionate and highly skilled creative designer who believes in the transformative power of innovative and empowering designs. Great design is not just about aesthetics, it’s about creating meaningful connections and driving impactful results for businesses and brands.
Born and raised in northern China, I moved to New Zealand at the age of 15, where my love for art and creativity flourished. This passion led me to pursue a Bachelor of Computer Graphic Design at the University of Waikato, which I completed in 2009. In 2011, I took a bold step and relocated to Sydney, Australia, to chase my dream of becoming a professional creative designer.
Over the years, I’ve built a diverse skillset that spans graphic design, marketing, relationship and project management. I’ve had the privilege of designing, developing, and directing visionary projects for high-profile brands across a wide range of industries, including consumer goods (FMCG), fashion, health, technology, government, and education. My expertise also extends to a variety of software applications, including Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, Drupal, Salesforce, SharePoint and more.
My career began in print and packaging design at Tempo Pty Ltd, a leading consumer goods sourcing and distribution company in the FMCG industry. There, I honed my skills in creating innovative packaging designs, print materials, and digital advertising campaigns. During that time, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with major retailers such as The Good Guys, Priceline, Bing Lee, Target, and The Warehouse New Zealand. In 2015, I transitioned into digital design and e-commerce, taking on the role of Senior Graphic Designer at Styletread. Later in 2017, I became the Head of Design at Esprit Australia before founding my own freelance design agency, Peony Nancarrow Creative Design, in 2018.
In 2022, I joined the University of Wollongong as a Communications Officer within the Global Strategy Division, where I focus on implementing design solutions to support internal and external communications within the international engagement space. In early 2023, I was offered the role of Corporate and External Relationship Coordinator where I focus on coordinating and managing international delegations and events across the University’s global portfolio, support developing and building relationships with corporate, institutional, and external partners. In addition, I am responsible to deliver on brand communication initiatives to raise the global portfolio and developing student and academic engagement internationally.
In 2024, I played an integral part in the website upgrade project for New South Wales State Emergency Service (NSW SES), leading key operational and project support efforts to redesign and enhance their public-facing website, demonstrating my ability to execute complex, multi-faceted projects with a focus on user-centric solutions.
As a creative designer, my mission is to translate my passion for design into fostering positive, collaborative relationships across diverse industries. I am dedicated to offer my clients exceptional creative solutions and services, using my unique blend of design expertise and project management skills to achieve outstanding results. With a highly professional approach, I am committed to bring a distinctive and creative flair to every project while building strong connections and lasting impact with each client.
Thank you for visiting my creative design space, I look forward to collaborating with you and bring your vision to life.
